چکیده
Ferulago campestris is an aromatic plant, distributed in Mediterranean Europe, and a source of essential oils (EOs) regarded as promising alternatives to synthetic herbicides pesticides. F. EO, hydrodistilled analyzed, was tested for its antigerminative activity effect on radicle elongation, hydrogen peroxide concentration, lipid peroxidation four infesting weed species (Papaver rhoeas, Taraxacum campylodes, Poa annua, Setaria verticillata) Phaseolus vulgaris. Its repellent ability also against Acanthoscelides obtectus, pest commonly affecting P. vulgaris during storage. Moreover, chitosan coating layer developed with the addition EO toxic oviposition-deterring effects A. obtectus. Myrcene, α-pinene, γ-terpinene were detected main compounds EO. The demonstrated selective vitro towards species, without bean seeds. exerted dose-dependent obtectus adults, thus effectively protecting seeds, while preserving their germinative ability. To best our knowledge, this first report chitosan–EO proposed aim seeds sowing from insect attack.

متن کاملMesoamerican Origin and Pre- and Post-Columbian Expansions of the Ranges of Acanthoscelides obtectus Say, a Cosmopolitan Insect Pest of the Common Bean
An unprecedented global transfer of agricultural resources followed the discovery of the New World; one consequence of this process was that staple food plants of Neotropical origin, such as the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), soon expanded their ranges overseas. Yet many pests and diseases were also transported. Acanthoscelides obtectus is a cosmopolitan seed predator associated with P. vulg...
متن کاملResource assessment and clutch size in the bean weevil, Acanthoscelides obtectus.
Bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus (Say)) females were found to use seeds (discrete resource patches) differentially when different sizes were offered in multiple-choice tests. Females, either as a group or as individuals, laid significantly (two to six times) more eggs on large seeds than on those of five times smaller mass. In contrast, seed shape (flattened or spherical) did not contribut...
متن کاملBlack Seed Oil Protects against Levofloxacin Hepatotoxicity: Analyses of the Biochemical and Histopathological Effects
Background: Long-term use of levofloxacin can cause alterations in the liver function. This study aimed to determine the protective effect of black seed oil (BSO) against liver injury due to levofloxacin administration in rats. Methods: The chemical composition of BSO was analyzed with gas chromatography and mass spectrophotometry (GC-MS). Rats (n=30) were treated daily with levofloxacin and ...
